We were busy packing at the cottage when Isabelle came running in the house, screaming, "Come quick, Daisy is fighting a raccoon!".
I immediately formed a horrible image in my mind of our sweet little dog fighting a huge rabid raccoon and being completely eviscerated and ripped to pieces. I have seen firsthand what a raccoon can do to a dog and it is horrible- beyond gruesome. Kevin grabbed the gun and we ran up to the horse pasture to put an end to the carnage. When we got there Daisy and a raccoon were squalling and rolling around on the ground. Kevin called Daisy off the raccoon and I went and got my camera. By the time I got back up, Daisy had treed the raccoon on a fencepost and he wasn't going anywhere.
Keep in mind that Daisy is miniature rat terrier and only weighs about 5 lbs, but she is full of ginger! This is what she was up against.
We all had a good laugh at the expense of this poor little fellow- he was only a few months old. However, he was ready to give Kevin a run for his money! It was late in the afternoon, so we took Daisy back inside so that she would stop tormenting him long enough for him to go along his way.
