Other favorite bargain spots.

Ahh, Marshalls-and it's sister company TJ Maxx- the best place for bed linens, towels and who knows what else- including Isabelle's Converse high tops!

This is another great place called Macon Discount- they all sorts of building supplies- you never know what they might have- they buy special order items from places like Lowe's that were never picked up and overstocks. Everything from cabinets to floor tiles to marble or formica countertops- just whatever is left over from job sites. They always have lots of molding and tons of doors.

I love the old fashioned look of these 5 paneled doors- only $50.
Don't like 5 paneled doors? Take your pick from 100's of other solid wood prehung doors.
These darker colored doors are beautiful Spanish Cedar custom doors with true divided double paned glass, some of them even have beveled glass in them- only $100 each!

This list would not be anywhere near complete without mentioning eBay and Craigslist- so many things from our home came from there!

The Bad and the Ugly.

This is the area to stay away from- the bedding. Fortunately- this is at the far end of the warehouse and I only ventured here to take the photo and warn you.

Also- I am generally grossed out by the "soft" furnishings that I cannot disinfect- like this sofa with an unidentified stain. The hotels are getting rid of this stuff for a reason.....

Purchases

I almost bought this armoire- I liked the color- the palm trees weren't really my thing, but I thought I could cover two bulletin board panels with a cute fabric and attach them over the palm tree panels. This is a solid wood armoire that previously housed a television in a Hyatt somewhere in sunny Florida and is now in a boiling hot dusty warehouse on sale for $99!

However, I ended up getting this one instead- I can't decide if it will go in our bathroom or in the laundry room.....I may or may not take off the wavy trim around the top- depends on where I put it. Just think of the possibilities! You could paint it another color or change out the fabric panels- or take them out if you like. Bookcase? Quilts? Lots of choices- and yours for $99!

The find of the day- these wall sconces with no shades- I will show you later what I have planned for them!

I also bought two big wicker ottomans, but I forgot to take photos. One thing- you better make make sure you really like it before you buy it!

One of my favorite stores for treasures and bargains.

Cash Liquidations Discount Funiture in Forsyth, GA. When hotels go out of business or remodel, all their old stuff goes here. Be prepared- it is huge, hot (or freezing cold), smells funny and there is some funky (as in gross) stuff in here. But, for those willing to break out the elbow grease, paint and fabric; there are some awesome deals to be had!

Playing catch up.

I had visions of an in depth website/blog regarding our move and subsequent home building. I would keep up with every stage of construction and post often so that friends and family could keep up with how things were going. HA! The best laid plans..... Seems like there was always something- I didn't have my camera, I was too tired, too cranky, too cold, too hot- whatever the reason, I didn't take photos and post like I wanted too. So, I am trying to play catch up and have posted a bunch of photos today!

I hope we will be in by the end of the month- depends on what the inspector says! Lots of little stuff left to do......thanks to everyone for the uplifting emails!

Pantry

The pantry was #1 on my new house wish list- can't wait to get my shelves in!

My purple hoosier cabinet top- I found it in a barn at an estate sale and cleaned it up and painted it my favorite color. It still has the flour sifter! Need to put a top on this base cabinet as well.... Posted by Picasa
